Localized cryotherapy · North Haven, CT
Localized cryotherapy aimed where it hurts.
Whole-body cryo chambers cool everything. Localized cryotherapy at Muscle Therapy Wellness Lounge in North Haven, CT does something more useful: it puts precise, deep cold exactly on the joint or muscle that's actually inflamed.
It's used inside your clinical session — after hands-on work, on the knee, shoulder, elbow, ankle or low back that needs it — to calm inflammation and quiet pain without icing your whole body down.
What we do exceptionally well
Why localized beats whole-body here.
Cold is a tool, not a ritual. We apply it where it changes your outcome.
Targeted, not blanket
Deep cold delivered to a specific joint or muscle group rather than your entire body for three minutes.
Used inside a real session
Cryotherapy follows hands-on clinical work, so you're calming tissue that was just treated — not walking into a cold box and leaving.
Great for acute flare-ups
Swollen knee, angry shoulder, tweaked low back, post-game inflammation — this is exactly what localized cold is for.
Paired with compression
Normatec compression after cold work helps flush the area and speeds the return to normal movement.
Fast and comfortable
A few focused minutes per area. No chamber, no full-body shock, no gasping for breath.
Licensed clinical judgment
Your therapist decides whether cold or heat serves you that day — sometimes the answer is infrared sauna instead, and we'll say so.
Inside your session
What pairs with cryotherapy.
Your therapist sequences cold with the rest of your session for the best result.
Localized Cryotherapy
Targeted deep cold on the specific inflamed joint or muscle group.
Deep Tissue & Myofascial
Hands-on clinical work first, so cold is calming treated tissue.
Normatec Compression
Full-limb compression to flush the area after cold application.
Triple Max Red Light
Clinical light therapy for cellular repair alongside inflammation control.
PEMF Therapy
Nervous-system downshift so the area stops guarding.
Robotic Back Relief Table
Automated decompression when the flare-up is lumbar.
Muscle Therapy Stretch
Gentle assisted range work once the area has calmed.
Infrared Sauna
The opposite tool — used when chronic bracing, not acute swelling, is the problem.

Questions we hear a lot
Answers before you book.
Do you have a whole-body cryo chamber?
No — we use localized cryotherapy, which targets the specific joint or muscle that's inflamed. For most pain and recovery goals it's the more useful of the two.
Should I use cold or heat?
Acute swelling and fresh flare-ups usually want cold; chronic, braced, stiff tissue usually wants heat. Your therapist decides in the room — we have both.
Does it hurt?
It's intensely cold for a short window and then the area goes numb and comfortable. Most people find it a relief.
How soon after an injury can I come in?
For a fresh strain or swelling, sooner is better. Call us at (860) 964-6504 and we'll tell you honestly whether to come in or wait.
Is cryotherapy included in a session?
Yes — it's one of the recovery tools your therapist can use during your visit.
Do you take HSA/FSA?
Yes, and superbills are available for out-of-network reimbursement. We do not accept workers' compensation.
